Give credit to the
Supreme Court decisions 1968 thru the 1970's which struck down laws that treated legitimate vs illegitimate children differently, with respect to mandatory parental support and other aspects.
If a woman was not eligible for child support nor government assistance for an illegitimate child, she would have a greater incentive to get married.
