as if getting to work is an option for tens of thousands when the metro, bus system and bridges are closed and power is off or spotty

the feds got “paid” just like all the local and state govt and school employees when the schools are closed. here the small businesses that stayed open cater to walk-in traffic

Back in the 70’s I was applying for a job in DC. I had an interview scheduled for 9AM. I drove down from North New Jersey the day before, rented a room and took the bus into the city the interview day. My drive down found me in rain and wind, probably a strong tropical storm. Anyway, got there on time at 9 only to find the building closed. I asked what was going on and a guard told me “DC Closed Today”. When I asked why, he said because of the storm. I could make it in from 250 miles away but the local parasites could not. I should not have gone back the next day for my rescheduled interview as I got the job. I could not wait to find another job, outside of puzzle city, as soon as I could.
