Why not before the election? Then he can be sure. The implication here is that if the progressives keep the Senate he won’t do anything.

C'mon. The Senate is in recess until after the election. There are no committees. Just because it's McCain is no excuse to get dumb.

Because the GOP is in the minority in the Senate. You can huff and you can puff, but you can't force an investigation unless you win the majority. As Obama said, "Elections have consequences."

He is not now chairman of the committee so he can’t make it do jack squat. Don’t you know the RATs are not about to have any hearing before the election.

The House could be it is kinda critical time before the election so I am not sure if it is in session or if the logistics will work.

Republican Senators should at the least call a press conference and MAKE the media cover the issue.
