Long story short the dog wanted out. There's like 9 inches of snow, the dog went out the garage door, saw all that snow and decided to cross her legs. LOL
#760 flying over damage
Haha, that’s funny. I held off on the late night walk because I was worried about a tree coming down on us. The little one wanted no part of it all day, the bigger one didn’t seem to mind too much. He was pretty upset this morning about waiting. We went out and assessed damage in the neighborhood. Branches, small pieces of siding, shingles in yards, but not too bad.
No worries at all. Seriously - I don't get offended unless it deals with my wife or kids...then...well. But other than that...I never get personally offended. You can't be sensative and be a meteorologist because the number one person who ALWAYS proves you wrong is God. He controls the weather...I just try to figure out what He's gonna do next. And for any good met...your # 1 critic is yourself. The bad ones put out a bad forecast and move on. The good ones dwell and sulk for days because the ceiling category was 1 cat off. I briefed 120 mission sorties during a 2 week period in 2007 (Green Flag). I had a 99.2% accuracy rating. I blew ONE sortie forecast (because the ceiling was 12K feet and the sensors couldn't see the target) out of 120...and I'm still mad...LOL
I do get personally invested though dealing with forecasts and sometimes that comes out as agression...and/or passion. For that...I apologize.
I get so invested because I've been doing this for 25 years. 24 years of it has been dedicated to DSCA (Defense Support of Civil Authorities) and specifically focused on that since 2005 (except Green Flag in 2007). Before that it was a mix: Army chooper brigades...DSCA...mobility site forecasting and F-16 support. But...every year since 1988 though has had some support to DSCA involved.
So...as part of that...I have to relate impacts more than anything. I remember a 3-Star correcting me years ago. He said: "I don't want or care to know the "what." Tell me the WHY!" Point taken and I stopped briefing cold fronts in central NE that had a couple of tstms in them. LOL
And B/W you and me...Army brass think you know absolutely everything about everything geological, meteorological and oceanographic...and that you've got a portable radar mounted on top of your head with internet access built in. But then again...so do my friends and family...
Peace....
Well I am glad to hear you are all right. What a mess.
Sir, you are a fool who knows nothing of Rockaway or its people!
ROFLMAO--"this one only hit 15." Are you an aspiring comedian?
"It had such a history, not only because of 'Mutiny on the Bounty,' but it's been a great part of St. Petersburg for so many years. It's going to be missed," Everson said. "It had a majestic look with its tall masts. It had an aura about it."
Thanks for the link metmom - The Bounty was a part of St. Petersburg for years ... sorry to hear this news... Prayers for all hurt by this storm...
ALL cities are RAT.
Good news, almost funny, for YOU at least. Hope your sister is ok. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn her house is gone, but folks who buy/live on the ocean know that at some point they might be subject to that kind of loss Not that it’s easy to take when it happens.
We lost power for 3 hours and that was it. Many of my friends locally never lost power. We’ve been lucky in Northern VA. It was like a long rain storm (after a drought summer).
Lots of large trees down in Levittown, PA.
Checking in from southern MD. Never lost power, only had to deal with a leaky window. Friend of mine had a scare, a neighbor’s tree crashed into his home. Thankfully no one was hurt. According to our power company SMECO, there are roughly 3500 customers without power at this point.
Has anyone heard from Fudd Fan? I know shes in New Jersey.
I don’t ever recall seeing anything like the westward turn this storm took.
Are you OK?
Luck of the draw. Had to happen to somebody :-)
Ironically, Sandy HAS been a wash here in Central NY.
We’ve only had a few times of somewhat gusty winds and periods of light to moderate rains.
Last night was clear for a bit with a beautiful, bright moonlit sky. This morning, we’ve even seen the sun peeking through. Right now it’s raining some with a slight, gusty breeze.
I am horrified, however, at what I see coming out of NYC and the east coast. The warnings were not even close to adequate to prepare for what they’ve experienced.
I am also amazed at how far west this thing went. It’s totally unprecedented.

Well, at least you're now balanced out by also getting post 777.
Greater is He who is in us......
