Most of us have had it up to eyeballs with the crap coming out of the WH and things are going to change

I both agree and disagree with this. I do believe that early voting opens up a greater degree of fraud. But for people like me who travel for work, and can’t for sure say whether I will be home or not on election day (even the week before), I need to be able to vote early. I do not believe in early voting like Ohio where it is open for a whole freakin’ month, but early voting for a week seems reasonably reasonable to me. I will not vote absentee if I can all help it, as who knows what really happens to the vote. Plus the way the machines are here in Nevada, there is a paper record generated at the machine that you can actually look at and verify before you press “done”.
My wife and I voted this early afternoon, and had to wait in line for about 30 minutes. We live in a rural county in Central Florida, and I was surprised at the number of people voting early. Florida has several amendments on the ballot, and they take extra time to read.
Based on the number of people waiting to vote as we left, I’d guess the turnout was heavy.

I remember 1980. We went after work and waited for a looong time but it was worth it!
Too few voting places, too few machines, way more people in the nation voting! The lines would be ridiculously long, the wait would be many hours, and the voting time would have to be extended well into the early hours for everyone to vote in just one day. We're a nation of over 300 million people now and don't want to pay for extra polling places and machines.
Like Popman said: the lines were just too long, so he'd come back. That's what most people would do (including me!). Some might never come back and skip voting altogether. Some don't have time to stand in hours-long lines (family, work, whatever).
Me, I voted today, but waited a few hours for all the retired folk to vote (they like to take care of things as early in the day as possible, for some reason), and by 1 PM, the line was only about 20 people that moved quickly in this small town.
In my area there are fewer polling locations available for early voting than on election day. Early voting can run for weeks and that's a major disruption to the places that can accomodate it for one day. As always, time in line varies depending on how many others showed up before you.
The wife and I just arrived back from Florida by auto.
We traveled hundreds of miles from the north to the east coast, back to the west coast and along the panhandle coast.
Thousands of R/R signs. I saw two Obozo signs and two Obozo bumper stickers.

I just waited nearly 3 hours to “advance vote”(as they call it here in Georgia) in the Cobb County Civic Center. Most there were no doubt Obozo supporters, but the vast majority of this county is Republican, so that doesn’t matter.
I didn’t care if I had to wait 6 hours or more, I was going to get in and cast my ballot for Romney/Ryan.

People like you should be asked to submit evidence of having to travel a lot. Then you are eligible for an absentee ballot. One of the few, absentee ballots should should be rare and for the ill and elderly. Show up on the real election day was good enough 10 years ago and is good enough today
No pre-voting days 10 years ago. We have cheapened elections same as we have cheapened American citizenship by allowing illegal immigration and legal immigration of illiterate and poor 3rd worlders
Almost half of the people at the business I work for will be out of state, on election day.
Since I will be the designated head honcho “in charge” while they are gone, I may not be able to leave at my regularly scheduled time, depending upon what comes up that needs to be dealt with.(Yes, I will be compensated for any unexpected overtime)
On election day, when my assigned precinct opens at 7:00 am, I will already be 20 minutes drive time away taking my child to school.
To go back to my polling place and vote before I go to work will require me to waste gas, and possibly be late to work.
Since I have the only keys to open the gates and the building, it's a fairly big issue in my company if I am late to work.
God forbid there might be a traffic problem/accident between me and my work, or between me and my home precinct after work.
I don't know or care how you live your day.
My normal workday starts with an alarm clock wake-up at 5:30AM.
After work and paced errands, I expect to be back home by 6:00PM, barring any traffic problems.
Polls close at 7:00PM.
If all else is normal, I have a single one hour opportunity window to vote on election day.
