EXCEPT rhe attackers didn’t even TRY to kidnap Stevens. When they came into the compound, they grabbed containers of diesel fuel and set the place on fire. The intention was murder from the jump.
An interesting tidbit I came across is that the group which carried out the attack included Ansar al Sharia and Ansar al Shariah was, before 9/11, in full control of a hospital in Benghazi.
News reports said the ambassador had been taken to a hospital in Benghazi where doctors used his cell phone to call US officials. The assumption made by the press was that he was taken to the hospital for treatment, but what if this hospital was the same one used as headquarters by Ansar al Sharia?
