Last Sunday was a very bad one for me. In the afternoon Larsen, our 6 year old Belgian Tervuren was clearly feeling badly. At 2 a.m. I had his head in my lap and was petting him when he stopped breathing. The symptoms were that of "Bloating" which can be caused by the stomach flipping around and the kink caused cuts off blood flow to the intestines and other abdominal organs. It can also be caused by gas pressure. Bloating in dogs is the second most frequent cause of death, behind cancer. I had never heard of bloating in dogs before. Dog owners should do a web search on bloating in dogs to know what the initial symptoms are, especially since immediate treatment is required to save the dog's life. RIP Larsen.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your buddy, Larsen.
I lost a precious Siamese cat due to blockage a while back, the dumb thing ate plastic bags for some nutty reason.. eventually his intestines were blocked to where blood flow was lost and even when operated on, no salvageable innard was left,, so I’m hesitant to tell my wife about bloating in dogs, she panics over the poodles enough already over allergies and such..
Hang in there, Bud.

I’m so sorry MtnClimber. That’s a great photo of a great dog. May he be frolicking with Jana & Kay, my beloved Shepherds.

(How about the dyslexic agnostic insomniac who stays up all night wonders if there really is a dog...)
