A couple rounds of suppressing fire onto the spontaneous ‘mob’ could have created a safe zone for our people.

I understand it operates best under the cloak of darkness (hence Spooky), but the battle lasted close to (or over) 7 hours, there must be some opportune time during the (at least) three requests for aids.
