I do not believe that the security officer would have had the laser on his target if they knew that the AC-130 WAS NOT in the area.
That security officer would not have been sitting there for over a hour to wait for the AC-130 to show up while taking heat from the attacks outside.
The fact that he had a laser focused on his target most likely proves that air support was in the area but denied.
Weapons release for that signal can be from predator, hunter, warthog, apache, and many, many others. He prolly lased, believing that servicing the target would come from Predator overhead, with later follow-up from AC-130 or others not yet on-scene.
