Yes, they had assets in the air while this was going down.
2 drones and a possible AC-130 Gunship.... but, I am leaning to the fact that there was a AC-130 Gunship in the air because otherwise that security officer would not have been focusing his laser on a target.
He would not have put himself in a more vulnerable position if he knew that there was not air support in the air.
