If you had been on an extended vacation for the past four years, you would have been forgiven for watching this debate and thinking you were viewing a President Mitt Romney being challenged by a pretender called Barack Obama.
It's not that Obama did not have command of foreign policy issues or did not make some telling points against an opponent who was vague at times and occasionally uncertain. But Obama clearly came into the debate believing he had to score points and change the dynamic of the race.
In short, Obama started the 90 minutes here in Boca Raton, Florida believing he was losing his bid for re-election.
Romney, by contrast, felt he could play things safe. He was a kinder, gentler presence than he was in the second debate in Hempstead, New York, when he fought back hard against a hyper Obama desperate to make up for his catastrophic performance in the first debate in Denver. By and large, Romney succeeded in Boca. He came across as knowledgeable and reasonable and made no mistakes. In short, he passed the commander-in-chief test.
Having proved in the first debate he had the backbone, policy expertise and determination to try to tackle America's economic woes, tonight he showed that he was a plausile commander-in-chief. It was not an especially high bar, but he cleared it...

You do not want to win a debate - you want to win an election.
Obama has won his bragging rights over something very few people care much about - and forgot what he needed to do to keep his day job.
He blew it!
damn!
I've said it before, Mitt's strong suit is being a strong suit.
Read my lips.....Obamabots!!! Mitt Romney spanked Obama big time in the final POTUS debate. Fact: Barack Huseein “Muslim Brotherhood” Obama will be handily defeated in his bid for re-election , come November 6, 2012!!! End of story!!!
that was a clear winner. best statement of all the debates. Romney hammered obozo.
The very little bit I listened to on the radio (all I could stomach of Odumbo) sounded to me like Odumbo was trying to rattle Mitt by being a condescending a$$hole and Mitt kept his cool.
Clearly Romney is a better man then me and he has earned my vote...
"I came to win an election but won a lousy debate instead no one will remember. What a bummer!"
He did NOT win the Boca debate.
It was an odd debate. Romney hugged him on some issues and slapped him around on others. The comment about submarines going under water was hilarious. Who knew we had that capability!
Most undecideds are women, At a certain point I turned off the sound. Just going by the moving TV images why would any sane woman vote for a feral looking critter like 0 with dark sunken raccoon eyes? In contrast Romney looked clean (as always) bright eyed and bushy tailed.
Romney looks much healthier than Obama though he is 15 years older. Romney has not drunk alcohol in years/Bammy has that sunken eyes skinny pre-AIDS look. Take a look at Romney’s lovely extended family which is also testimony to him. Have you ever heard Obama’s spaced out Muslim school teacher half sister? Obama has no extended family he is proud of to bring on stage with him .... Which Romney has done with his grand children etc
Greatest security threat? OBozo “these terror networks;” Romney: “a nuclear Iran.” The choice is clear. Obozo revealed his small thinking, his total reliance on small, conventional, high tech special forces. No wonder he wants to cut the military a trillion bucks. If the military “ hasn’t asked for “ more funding, it’s because he has surrounded himself with sycophants. I haven’t had time to check what they’re saying in Israel today, but he put them in their place—second place at best in our international concerns. Romney ought to push that theme for days.
And how about those aircraft carriers? Did you know we’ve got airplanes that land on them? Wow, let’s just get rid of everything else! We could just get by with 50 subs and 11 carriers. /s/
Obama was wrong (surprise, surprise) about the bayonets. Our entire marine corp is still trained on the use of bayonets. The whole standing army in 1900 was 100,000. Marine Corps was somewhere around 11,000. Currently there are just over 240,000 active and reserve Marines.
The lead story in today's Houston Chronicle on Page One leads off with social-media fascination over Romney's "alleged perspiration problem" -- recalling Dick Nixon's sweaty, flu-bugged upper lip in 1960 that cost him the election.
The Chronicle has editorially endorsed Romney, but the weaselly little Commierats writing the daily sludge are continuing to slant for Barky.
This was the story all through the 1940's and 1950's, as a historian gloated later, when Red-infested journo schools (Columbia foremost, the original "little Red schoolhouse") poured out rivers of like-minded students to subvert America in fulfilment of the COMINTERN's vision.
They're still at it, unmolested after 70 years.
One would THINK that the Commander in Chief would know about bayonets and submarines!
A real CIC would but this doofus confuses corpsmen with Corpse men.
