Bob Schieffer's 2008 Pro-Obama Debate Record
Breitbart.com ^ | 21 Oct 2012 | William Bigelow

Bob Schieffer, the moderator for the last of the three presidential debates in 2012, needs to be watched carefully; he has a clear partisan agenda that favors Barack Obama that was evident even in 2008. When he moderated the last presidential debate that year, he didn’t flinch from his Democratic Party mission.

In 2008, Schieffer asked 9 questions. Look at how he slanted some of the questions and his interjections:

1. “We found out yesterday that this year's deficit will reach an astounding record high $455 billion. Some experts say it could go to $1 trillion next year. Both of you have said you want to reduce the deficit, but the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget ran the numbers on both of your proposals and they say the cost of your proposals, even with the savings you claim can be made, each will add more than $200 billion to the deficit. Aren't you both ignoring reality? Won't some of the programs you are proposing have to be trimmed, postponed, even eliminated? Give us some specifics on what you're going to cut back.”

Obama evaded the question entirely:

Obama : “We need to eliminate a whole host of programs that don't work. And I want to go through the federal budget line by line, page by page, programs that don't work, we should cut. Programs that we need, we should make them work better.”

But then Schieffer demanded McCain get specific, after McCain had barely started his answer, interrupting, “The question was, what are you going to cut?” McCain did get specific, mentioning the marketing assistance program and subsidies for ethanol.

I blame the RNC for continuing to accept these partisans.

Once again I ask - WHY do Republicans accept these liberal venues and moderators. Can not you find ANYONE except people from CBS, CNN or NPR?

Why not require at least one event be held at a conservative university? With a moderator from someone outside the world of the media?

Is it really so difficult???

Methinks Bob Schieffer will play it a little closer to the vest after the Candy eat Crowley fiasco. We shall see what we shall see.

Don’t count on it...if there’s one thing these leftoids have, it’s audacity.

Their insatiable desire to protect “the won” will find a way.

I agree and we should be demanding answers to those questions. But, it is interesting, given that Candy and schieffer are up Obama’s marxist butt, that Romney keeps truck’n along, gaining momentum. Leftists are losers even when they try to cheat! What an unholy, unwashed, slavish, hateful bunch of camel snot.

What Romney should be PREPARED to do is point the assumptions behind certain questions. Then he should rephrase the question and then answer it. When Schieffer tries to stop him, he should just say “Bob, I tried to help you out here, but your question is at best naive and misleading.”

Excellent article.

Thanks for posting.

Marco Rubio handled him on FTN yesterday. Romney can do the same, but he’ll have to take charge from the very start.

I wonder if it is like the voir dire process in jury selection--each side gets a certain number they can exclude. The Democrats propose a bunch who are so nakedly partisan that the Republican run out of challenges and have to accept moderators with just a fig leaf.

I find it hard to believe that anyone on our side would be surprised to see that 90 percent of the media are democratic operatives. It’s blatantly obvious these days.

Why is Fox not moderating a debate? They have a helluva lot bigger audience than CNN.

I’m thinking we’re going to see something different out of the old leftie tonight. In the past, it’s been biased questions and interruptions and mid-answer interruptive questions.

But, tonight I think we’re going to see their first foray into preventing the republican for addressing certain issues beyond their one or 2 questions dealing with it, and Benghazi is the issue they want the least airtime dedicated to, so that’s the one they’ll prevent Romney from returning to.

It’ll be via interruptive question or statement: “Let’s address the question about Iran, Governor, we’ve already covered Libya. How can anyone be against talks with Iran?”

You’re likely right, and Romney had best be prepared to say that “talks are stall tactics,” but Libya demands answers that have been masked as lies, and four Americans are still dead, which have been lied about.

Romney needs to own the debate, not Sheiffer and certainly not the Marxist.

Forget Schieffer.... what needs to be done is find the IDIOT that allowed Schieffer to be picked as moderator..

He more of a danger than Schieffer is...

Here’s the problem as I see it. On the night of the first debate about 70 million people watched. Fox News announced that they had 10 million of those viewers. IOW, about 85% of the nation watched via the lamestream media and it’s cable outlets.

They do not consider their “tv journalists” (I use the term loosely) to be biased. They think they are just fine.

So, if the republican candidate refuses to go with the LSM journalist, they will be portrayed as stalling and refusing to debate. The pubs probably see that as an overall loser proposition.

And the LSM still reaches 85% of the presidential contest interested public.
