Akin: McCaskill fetches expansive government “like a dog”

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin said Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill has fetched expansive government policies “like a dog” during her tenure in Washington.

Akin made the comparison during a fundraising event in Springfield, where he featured support from former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, one of the few national Republicans still backing Akin after much of the party establishment distanced themselves from his candidacy following the controversy earlier in the race surrounding his comments about “legitimate rape.”

“She goes to Washington, D.C., it’s a little bit like one of those dogs, ‘fetch,’” he said. “She goes to Washington, D.C., and get all of these taxes and red tape and bureaucracy and executive orders and agencies and brings all of this stuff and dumps it on us in Missouri.”

Akin continued, “It seems to me that she’s got it just backwards. What we should be doing is taking the common sense we see in Missouri and taking that to Washington, D.C., and blessing them with more solutions instead of more problems.”

The remark was another in a series of quotes that could place more distance between Akin and female voters. Earlier this year, Akin questioned whether McCaskill was “lady-like” during their first debate, and during their second debate was criticized by McCaskill for his opposition to “equal pay” laws for women.

Akin, speaking to the audience Saturday evening, said the focus on issues other than the economy is a “distraction” by the McCaskill campaign from her tenure in office, and encouraged voter to compare her six years as a senator with his 12 years in the House.

And would I call McCaskill a dog? HELL YA! She is one mangy beech!

Uh, huh. I’m guessing you never ran for office. Tossing personal insults around in generally not a good way to make friends & influence people.

The dog analogy was for her actions, not her personally. What ever happened to the “equality” thingy anyway?

Claire McCaskill is a slick tongued prosecutor that may have a way with fooling the voters while Akin is a engineer and a combat engineer.
Do the voters in Missouri want charisma or a true conservative?
Used car salesmen, lawyers may be great with words but as for me I look at what they do not what they say...I trust Akin because I know how he votes. McCaskill is a full blown Obamanite.

Its not just one thing though. Its legitimate rape, a magic uterus, people are having abortions that aren’t pregnant, that not getting money from the RNC is exactly like being raped...
If it were one issue like saying women instead of womens resumes I could understand

Too bad the media doesn’t headline McCaskill’s lie in the last debate. She gets a free doggie biscuit?

Regarding the new ad the McCaskill campaign is running to attract female voters. Akin has caught Claire in another lie. As an auditor she should have researched the facts unless she prefers to just lie and hope she gets away with it.
Akin’s congressional office said it is not true that Akin pays women less categorically and pointed to the last quarter, in which women in Akin’s office made more than men by $3,158 on average over four months, according to LegiStorm data pulled by Akin’s office Thursday night.

“I think it’s interesting that an auditor would chop off the last several years,” said Akin’s communications director and district director, Steve Taylor, referencing McCaskill’s career as Missouri state auditor before here 2006 election to the Senate. Taylor called the accounting “somewhat disingenuous.”

Worth repeating:

“If Missouri women are so friggin’ stupid that they take the comment as a personal affront, and it costs Akin the election, then we here in Missouri get what we deserve by having McCaskill re-elected.”

I might substitute “America” for Missouri, though...

Did the gop establishment back away from John McCain? he made much worse remarks than Akin.

"You know, the French remind me a little bit of an aging actress of the 1940s who is still trying to dine out on her looks but doesn't have the face for it."

"I said, 'The nice thing about Alzheimer's is you get to hide your own Easter eggs.'"

"At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you c*nt." -to his wife, Cindy, after she playfully twirled his hair and said "You're getting a little thin up there," as reported in the book The Real McCain by Cliff Schecter

"Do you know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly? Because Janet Reno is her father." --at a 1998 Republican fundraiser

"Did you hear the one about the woman who is attacked on the street by a gorilla, beaten senseless, raped repeatedly and left to die? When she finally regains consciousness and tries to speak, her doctor leans over to hear her sigh contently and to feebly ask, 'Where is that marvelous ape?'" --a joke McCain reportedly told during his first Senate race in 1986

Not to mention his remarks on hating "gooks" for the rest of his life.

What do you mean President McCain said all of these things?

I can't believe that President McCain could have said such things on the campaign trail and still beat Senator Barack Obama back in 2008.

What's that?!? You're saying that Barack Obama cleaned John McCain's clock back in 2008? Really?!?

Well, nevermind, then...

What was your point, again?

BTW, quoting completely made up BS from Cliff Schecter
does not strengthen your argument.

Excuse me ..McCain made the comment on Chelsea at a fundraiser. He never denied his comments on gooks but said it was due to his being a POW and he has used some strong language in the senate using the F word. That is not made UP

It is a side issue, but do you believe that the Cliff Schecter quote is real? Are you hanging your argument on the contention that John McCain called his wife the c-word in public?

But, regardless, John McCain lost in 2008. Must we repeat every mistake McCain made, just to be consistent?
