It’s the senate seat . . .
It’s just as well Akin is committing hari kari and twisting the knife for good measure. Only D’s can get away with this kind of inartful, unthoughtful communication (See: Joe Biden). If elected, he’d be the Media/DNC national GOP poster boy. GOP has enough communication problems to have to deal with this clown.
The tragic thing is he threw away a perfectly good winnable Senate seat for the GOP, one that might have been #50 or 51 (useful for bringing legislation to the floor and S.Ct. voting). Sorry, but Gov. Huckabee was wrong to come to his aide. He should have counseled him to leave the race for the good of the party and country.
The only way to put an end to political correctness is to put an end to it, not play into it. If you cannot get your head around the fact that analogies are exactly what they are and rightfully make a stand to admonish the liberals who rely on political correctness as a first line of distractive defense of the indefensible, then why are you a so-called conservative in the first place?
Make a stand, end the crap. It is our nation that is at stake, not scoring points in a pointy headed “intellectual” debating club.
Allen West is easily conservative enough for me. I would be the first to step forward to carry that can of gasoline for him. He is also under the same kinds of attack from the left because he stands on principle and will not back down for things he has said and done that the liberals hate, or have you forgotten about those. The difference is that he stands by his comments where others start to waffle when put under the media pressure to be politically correct.
There was nothing stupid about Akin’s analogy, the problem for those who cower to PC is that it was 100% spot on. But he just used the wrong word, just like Romney supposedly did, according to Candy Crowley.
I used the example because they are the leadership, you know, the ones who they always go to first? I was all for bouncing their tired PC arshes out of leadership positions because they have no idea what the word means. I was there after 2010 and am even more so now. The American people as a whole are pleading for someone to pop up and say exactly what they mean, not a focus group tested line of crap.
We do?
I was refering to the GOP elite. This election will show what the Missouri voters are made of.
If Missouri women are so friggin’ stupid that they take the comment as a personal affront, and it costs Akin the election, then we here in Missouri get what we deserve by having McCaskill re-elected.
On a more general note, I just have to say, a lot of people who aren’t from Missouri sure do have a lot of disparaging things to say about Akin. He may not be the most politically correct, or suave politician. He his miles better for Missouri, and the country, than the alternative. Why don’t you all shut the hell up, if you can’t support us in our attempt to get rid of her?
Akin is the candidate, deal with it, and stop trying to drag us down. For those of us who didn’t vote for him in the primary, it’s hard enough as it is.
Can some Akin supporter please chime into this thread and explain why the national GOP wants to embrace this guy, again?
............................................................
Probably because what he said, although totally politically incorrect, and a bit on the rough side, is also totally true.
McCaskill like so many democrats does not need to show up at Capitol Hill for a vote, she will go whichever way the Dems tell her to. She is just fetching whatever the Dems throw out for her.
McCaskill was outstanding fetching Obama’s bone. None better.
You got McCaskill or you’ve got Akin... I live in Missouri, I hated it that Akin said what he said, but I hate even more that Bitch McCaskill... I’m voting Akin, he’s still conservative and can be voted out next time if need be, but this time, I stand with Akin... Got IT?!?!
(etc)
Hey, I want Akin to win. I would vote for him, if I were in Missouri. (If I were a cheatin' Democrat, I would vote for him anyway!)
But no amount of support from the National GOP can drag this guy over the line if he keeps shooting himself in the foot. A cigar store indian could beat Claire McCaskill, but a cigar store indian say quite so many stupid things.
The Democrat War on Women strategy is dead in the water in every state besides Missouri. Sandra Fluke is speaking in front of crowds of 10 in Nevada. Romney is gaining big time in the women's vote. These are things we need to do to win.
If the GOP embraced Akin and his serial idiocies, the War on Women theme would take off again, and we could lose the whole shooting match. And Akin would probably step on his crank the day before election day and lose his race anyway.
I too thought Akin was toast, nay, BURNT toast. But he's gonna win.
Akin got a couple bucks from Virginia.
You make a very good point.
The recent revelations concerning Ma’s hubby doing deals in the Senate dining room concern me much more than mere words. Yet many here focus on Akin’s pronouncements as if they are volcanic in nature. Me? Far more worried about the $5 million taxpayer expenditure in Clinton,MO. We have subsidized team McCaskill to the tune of multiple million$!
Oh, its the same as the “files of women” comment that Romney made in the last debate... the dims conflate the comment so as to create a straw man argument, same as always. Why folks pay more attention to the fluff of a campaign than the hard cold facts on the ground, (i.e., the bankrupting of America, finically, militarily and socially) is simply maddening...
We all need to embrace Akin because the alternative is so horrific!
Todd Akin Likens Claire McCaskill to a Dog
Foot in mouth disease strikes again.
that is hilarious
because he is not Claire
Using a dog analogy for a woman has nothing to do with political correctness and everything to do with being polite. Conservatives are polite, liberals are not.
