The 2012 presidential election is still more than two weeks away, but on Friday a CBS News affiliate in Arizona called the race for President Barack Obama.

It appears we missed it!
And darn it! We lost!
Did anyone get the memo about the change of date?
I’ve never had sour mash
The War of The Worlds
Some listeners heard only a portion of the broadcast and, in the atmosphere of tension and anxiety prior to World War II, took it to be an actual news broadcast.[1] Newspapers reported, that panic ensued, with people across the Northeastern United States and Canada fleeing their homes. Some people called CBS, newspapers or the police in confusion over the realism of the news bulletins.[6][7]
Future Tonight Show host Jack Paar had announcing duties that night for Cleveland CBS affiliate WGAR. As panicked listeners called the studio, Paar attempted to calm them on the phone and on air by saying, “The world is not coming to an end. Trust me. When have I ever lied to you?” When the listeners started charging Paar with “covering up the truth”, he called WGAR’s station manager for help. Oblivious to the situation, the manager advised Paar to calm down, saying it was “all a tempest in a teapot.”[8]
In Concrete, Washington, phone lines and electricity went out due to a short-circuit at the Superior Portland Cement Company’s substation. Residents were unable to call neighbors, family or friends to calm their fears. Reporters who heard of the coincidental blackout sent the story over the news-wire, and soon Concrete was known worldwide.[9]
Within one month, newspapers had published 12,500 articles about the broadcast and its impact. Adolf Hitler cited the panic, as Richard J. Hand writes, as “evidence of the decadence and corrupt condition of democracy.”[10]

If they tested the stock-market ticker or tables in this way, would THAT be acceptable?! I don’t flippin’ think so!
“if that is called electioneering, so is Hannity”
I haven’t watched or listened to him in fifteen years so I can’t say what Mr. Hannity does.
true that!
I’ve never seen Hannity declare the results of an election prior to election night.
so are they just trying to give a feeling of inevitability out there? Trying to depress Romney voters?
Or is it worse than that?
and further down, Mourdock loses in Indiana for Senate, 40% to 45%.
“Ok - thank you for that post.
my spidey senses are tingling”
My prediction is they’ll wait until after the debate tomorrow night so everyone will be paying attention to what happened there. At that point they’ll put a very tiny blurb on their site about some kind of operator error and a promise that they will continue to look into it. With so many other things going on, they will count on everyone forgetting about it. Their community does not have to accept that though. These affiliates exist to serve the public interest, and the people have a right to know exactly what was going on here.
I heard today on The Five that the UN is going to send people to watch the election process..that makes me worried since they are liberal groups and the only reason they would want to “Watch” what is going on is to make sure they steal the election
If it goes to the USSC, you are right about Roberts, traitor to the constitution.
“I heard today on The Five that the UN is going to send people to watch the election process..that makes me worried since they are liberal groups and the only reason they would want to Watch what is going on is to make sure they steal the election”
They can watch me as I show them which finger I used to cast my vote to say goodbye to the current administration.
the only reason they would come in and “observe” is to park themselves at some crucial precinct in Pa or OH and then find a way to drum up trouble.
I knew after Chavez stole the election in Venezuela that is what Obama and his minions will try to do here..remember all of the exist polling which showed Chavez losing 53 to 48 percent..yeah all of a sudden Chavez came out said they had to count some “More votes” then BOOM, Chavez wins by a sizable margin..yeah right we ALL know what happened..and the leftists here have the same idea
Even the lowliest Web programmer knows the difference between a test Web site and a "live" one.
My thought is they're sending out "feelers" to seed the public with a sense of the inevitability of a BO win. They want to fill out the edges of the puzzle first and then the center. The skewed polls didn't work, so they're trying this.
It's sort of reminiscent of BO's "Office of the President-Elect" made-up seal being used at public events right right after the 2008 election.
Is this just a CBS affiliate thing, or are other stations doing it? The local SF Bay Area affiliate, KPIX, doesn't seem to have anything like it on their site.
I don’t know what they are doing but I believe it is unacceptable. If it didn’t have an identifier or whatever prominent, it is wrong.
They could have run TEST-TEST in the scroll and also had an anchored *NOTE on their websites yada.
I don’t care if it was a test—if they didn’t break their backs to ensure nobody was confused—they flocked up!
Even on FR people get pounded for not labeling satire in an obvious manner. I actually enjoy the satire more when I get taken in before I finally realize.
But for an election, this is completely unacceptable. Especially with the tension going on in this country right now.
The friggin’ UN..THE UN will be watching our polls. They need to go smoke pole—friggin’ blue helmeted bassturds.
This is their own way of bringing about voter suppression. If they can get just a small number of likely voters who lean Romney to stay away because they think they are going to be hassled, that could be very damaging. They’re not going to be able to keep enthusiastic Romney supporters from showing up, but someone newly interested might just see this as a potential problem and stay away. Remember, they said point blank they are keeping an eye on conservatives. As if we were the ones with the clubs outside last time.
They’re up to something - they always are.
In the comment section of the article I posted someone posted another example of this happening.
