According to Bob Woodward, Bill Casey told the story of a couple of Russian diplomats who were kidnapped in Lebanon. Two cousins of the ring leaders were found dead, with their penises sowed into their mouths. The Russians diplomats were promptly freed. As Casey put it, "The Russians speak Hezbollah's language."

IIRC, wasn't it back in the 1970's/1980's where a KGB agent was taken hostage by some muzzies and the KGB responded by cutting off a finger of a muzzie hostage they had and sending it to them? I believe the muzzies released the agent soon after.
