US Department of State, Daily Press Briefing, September 13, 2012
US Department of State ^ | September 13, 2012 | Victoria Nuland, Spokesperson

QUESTION: On this movie that seems to be the kind of genesis, at least in some of these other areas of protest in the country, did you know about this movie before these protests erupted? Did anybody notify you that this movie was coming out and to be on the lookout for potential protests?

MS. NULAND: Well, I don’t want to get too much into this particular video, because it just gives it more credit than any of us want to. I think you heard the Secretary speak to this issue this morning and to make it clear that we absolutely reject both its message and its content, which we consider disgusting and reprehensible. She said it far better than I can here.

The interesting thing about this, as I understand it, is that this had actually been circulating at a relatively low level for some months out there in cyberspace and that it only caught fire in the region on the day or just before the day that we began to see these various protests.

QUESTION: Can you talk a little bit more about the security that was at the Embassy? It seems that for an area such as Benghazi, where there was a lot of instability, there were very few guards there. And can you talk about whether the U.S. asked Libya, the Libyan Government, earlier in the week for extra security precaution. It does seem though that there were very few security personnel at this location.

MS. NULAND: I’m going to reject that, Elise. Let me tell you what I can about the security at our mission in Benghazi. It did include a local Libyan guard force around the outer perimeter. This is the way we work in all of our missions all around the world, that the outer perimeter is the responsibility of the host government. There was obviously a physical perimeter barrier, a wall. And then there was a robust American security presence inside the compound. This is absolutely consistent with what we have done at a number of missions similar to Benghazi around the world.

Yeah, right. The protest at the Cairo embassy was about The Blind Sheik. Nothing was really about the video before the Cairo Embassy tweeted about the video.

I understand it, is that this had actually been circulating at a relatively low level for some months out there in cyberspace and that it only caught fire in the region on the day or just before the day that we began to see these various protests.

I understand that the video had been posted in July and at the time before the attack-- it had less than 300 views. "The video only caught fire the day of or just before the day". BULLCHIT! Our goverment, our Cairo Embassy STRUCK the match on TWITTER for this video to go viral and destroy and or or damage our embassies throughout the world. ALL AFTER the consulate attack. I am of COMPLETE belief our government made or caused this anti-muslim video to be made. They had that video cued up for blame before ANY of this happened. Why.

I now also believe the Kony2012 video was backed? created? by our government. It would give backing and celebration for our troops to be sent to Uganda, even though Kony hasn't been there in at least 6 years and may be dead.

The celebrities did their twitty job, got the message out there and caused the video go viral--it was for their 1'000's of minions/followers to flip out over and demand intervention. Too bad facts were pointed out and the 'creator of the video' went mad and ran crazy nekkid down the street. Boom, it went off the radar. But a handful of troops went to Uganda anyhow, ontop of another handful that had been there. Soon we will be talking real troops. (like money, little here and there then it adds up)
