Lee Iacocca endorses Romney for president

After a lifetime of voting for and supporting Democrats — and even declining appointment to the U.S. Senate from a Democratic governor — Lee Iacocca Thursday endorsed Republican Mitt Romney for president.

The blessings of the onetime Chrysler chairman are expected to help Romney in two highly competitive states: Pennsylvania, where the 88-year-old Iacocca was born and raised and is still widely respected, and in Michigan, where Iacocca rose to become a major figure in the auto industry and won international praise for cobbling together the government-backed loans that saved Chrysler in 1980.

Iacocca, who now lives in California, issued a statement saying he backed Romney because of his “dozens of years of experiences in the public and private sectors” and because the GOP nominee has a plan that “will enable a stronger America.”

Their are a lot of Michiganders who still revere Lee for the Chrysler Turn Around eons ago.

Many scraped every penny they had and bought Chrysler Stock at $3 bucks/ share and have net Worth's in the 7 digit area.

They are getting old, and their is the potential of inter-generational wealth transfer. Perhaps they will tell their kids, nieces nephew's etc. of what Lee is really speaking about here. Their future to get a job and perhaps their inheritance.

But more importantly Lee now see's this guy as a phony poser, that doesn't well with his generation, that is for sure...

I expect this to have some legs here in Michigan....

Normally, I don't give any credence to what I'll call “celebrity” endorsements.

But Iacocca is a whole nother matter. Iacocca has gravitas. Everyone should know and respect the father of the Mustang and leader of the restoration of the Statue of Liberty — that prickly old fart, written in the most respectful way! Prickly is what happens around 60!
