Debates 2012: An Exercise in Liberal Pathology (Almost Perfect Description of DUmmies)
National Review Online ^ | October 17, 2012 | Stanley Kurtz

Liberalism isn’t doing so well lately. In fact I’d go so far as to say that liberalism is becoming downright pathological. The disease is progressive (in more ways than one). Precursors were visible as far back as 1964, and again in the 1980s. Yet this latest uspsurege has been building since 2000, and has never yet spread so widely or threateningly across the body politic.

The chief symptom of liberal distress is an intense form of denial. Liberals now actually deny that conservatives exist. There are, of course, strange, cartoon-like images that liberals call conservative, yet these bear little resemblence to complex conservative human beings with thoughts capable of posing a reasoned challenge to liberal convictions. In psychiatic terms, liberals have split off an all-bad version of conservatism in an effort to defend against the intolerable reality of actual threats to the liberal point of view. I don’t think this denial has quite reached the level of psychosis. Perhaps we could call it high-functioning borderline instead. At any rate, we are now clearly in the realm of pathology.

I don’t think this denial has quite reached the level of psychosis.

This is why I said the author ALMOST perfectly described the DUmmies because they have long ago broke through into the psychosis level.

The first debate reflected a relatively stable form of denial. It had been going on for years, after all. President Obama and Jim Lehrer simply assumed that no conservative opponent existed. There was thus no need to prepare, no real need to show up, and no need for the moderator to impose time limits or interrupt the conservative with questions. It’s easy enough to crush a stick figure.

Yup! That's the hazard of believing your own unrealistic propaganda.

Once Romney broke through this first form of denial, more active and less stable attempts at denial were required to hold reality at bay. In the next debate, Vice-President Biden adopted a manic air, automatically rejecting all of his opponent’s arguments as absurd. Biden’s comportment was socially dysfunctional and could not be maintained consistently throughout the debates, yet it served for a time to stave off a severe threat to liberal self-esteem. The moderator, meanwhile, sharing the vice-president’s disregard for Paul Ryan’s existence (as anything other than a cartoon bad-guy) was oblivious to Biden’s bad behavior, and so refused to stop it.

I'm glad she refused to prevent Biden from acting like a jerk. It gave the audience to see his true nature.

By the third debate, the liberal patient’s internal conflict was out in the open. Obama was forced to deal with his opponent as an actual being, worthy of serious argument. Yet this distrurbing intrusion of reality forced the moderator into an embarrassing public display of total denial, simply negating the reality of Obama’s Libya coments, and breaking with her proper role (more social dysfunction). Frequent interruptions of the conservative’s argument were necessary for the moderator at this point.

Basically, Candy Crowley acted as Obama's teleprompter.

The DUmmie Borg has absorbed most liberals. As wacky as the DUmmies seem...that’s the way most liberals have become. A complete divorce from reality. I hope Rush references this article.

I’ve been saying it for years that liberalism is a chronic, debilitating mental disease. It rots out the human brain’s ability to think logically and objectively. As it deteriorates the brain, it also leads to self-destructive, self-hating and violent behavior. We’ve seen it over and over and over again. Once society realizes that it is a mental disease, the solution will also be realized. Unfortunately, there are not enough padded cells to hold em all.

I agree with Kurtz's observations and will add a few of my own.

I think that paranoia, in the form of systematized delusions and persecution fantasies has long been a commonplace among liberals. I've noticed that they tend to externalize their greatest fears in order to deal with them, and among their great common fears is personal responsibility (a facet of separation anxiety). That is why, when confronted with a person who is outwardly confident, secure and happy, their instinct tends toward denigration and denial, frequently expressed as sneering accusations of malfeasance and barely-concealed envy.

Their own lives might be miserable (and often are), but it's never their fault. It's because of... that guy...over there. And if one of their ilk acts out - behaves badly - well, it's never their fault, either. They're deranged on account of they're deprived, see? It's a social disease. Dear Officer Krupke...

Liberalism is a pre-packaged system for self-delusion. Like a virus, it contains a small set of methods by which it can propagate from host to host; more than one propagation method is necessary because no one method works in all hosts.

Also, like a virus, Liberalism can only function with an outside source of energy and nutrition. It is incapable of manufacturing or finding its own sources of nutrition; in fact, once established, it sets about destroying the energy sources of its host.

In a sense, Liberalism is the operational manifestation of the basic fact that, in a symbol-manipulating system, a contradiction can actually be made to exist. Human society is such a symbol-manipulating system; so is the system by which genetic information is handled and propagated. In both systems, viruses can arise.

Coulter had it right:

“Mobs ‘stand in need of ready-made opinions on all subjects,” Le Bon says, and the ‘popularity of these opinions is independent of the measure of truth or error they contain.” The power of prestige “entirely paralyses our critical faculty, and fills our souls with astonishment and respect.” The weak-minded just go with the crowd, ridicule the designated scapegoats, and then pass out awards to one another for their courage.”

Today’s liberalism is just populist revolution with a “new and improved” label.

Liberalism is nothing more than a ponzi scheme; where criminals at the highest levels (ie: Soros) employ useful idiots to do their dirty work while they loot the treasury.

Sure there are pure ideologues, but they are the useful idiots of the power brokers. The ideologues employ more useful idiots to support the ideology. They are the ones that get the grants and funding from the government to run things like the ACLU, etc. They are also employees of the MSM.

Then you have the local chapters of the useful idiots. Teachers unions, local unions and others who in exchange for their unwavering support of the local pol, get contracts and benefits at the expense of the taxpayer.

Finally you have the dumb schmuck on the street who is part of the OWS crowd, the save the rain forrest crowd, the global warming crowd, who for their unwavering support get to pay for merchandise to support their cause and every now and then get a bus ride to a rally and a sandwich. These are the pure useful idiots who frequent DU, Daily KOS, etc.

If anything, these are the ones we should be least conerned with as they think voting on some ginned up survey 50 times is going to make a difference in the big picture.

My favorite example of this recently has been when Obama repeatedly states something or another about Romney (or the right in general) as being AGAINST fairness, or a level playing field, or in favor of different rules for some people, etc. What ever silly way he tries to say it.

The REAL truth is the exact inverse! World turned upside down kind of nonsense! Who doesn’t know perfectly well that their idea of a “level” playing field is highly TILTED against anyone that actually successful! Drives me nuts!

There is a reason leftists launch off their power structures with mass murder and it is not caused by their sanity. Imma gonna kill...riot...oppress

Delusions of superiority/elitism, hate and envy are the basic founding ideals of modern liberalism, neo-Marxism, progressivism or whatever they call themselves from decade to decade.

Leftists can not argue their case because it is freedom, inspiration, faith and love up-side-down. It is America’s constitutional ideology and culture, up-side-down. While in power, typically, they have officially named their opposite a domestic terrorist enemy and geared the military, DHS, DOJ, etc. against their political and social enemies. As they always do.

I still laugh at their absolute terror and explosive fury as the Tea Party rose up and kicked their butts even when they thought they had total power and voice. Ha.
