And if you read the rest of the article:
Hicks was puzzled as well, as he has no criminal record or outstanding warrants. He explained that he is a former Department of Defense (DoD) contractor who has also passed extensive background checks to receive an enhanced concealed carry license. In addition, he holds a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC), a security card issued by the TSA for transportation personnel. However, none of these factors allowed him to get back on his flight, or take another flight home.
You'll also find that his wife is a US Navy lieutenant, stationed in Japan. He was enroute to visit her when he was escorted off the plane in Hawaii.
I may not agree with his politics, but this is ridiculous. The TSA won't tell him why he is on the no-fly list. If it is indeed because he has simply expressed opposition to government actions or government legislation, then almost everyone here on Free Republic had better hope JimRob doesn't get served with a National Security Letter demanding any information he has about the identity of posters.
A blatant violation of the 6th amendment.
Amendment VI
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.
Unless you want to claim it's not a criminal prosecution... in which case the 5th is still being violated:
Amendment V
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
