Listen to Obama's response closely, I think he almost endorsed a handgun ban (which he supported as a Rep from Chicago). He endorses the AWB, then he says "But the real problem in the cities is handgun violence..." Then he starts to say something and cuts himself off so noticeably mid-sentence he actually sound like "Buuuuuwwww...." then he pauses for several seconds and starts talking about crime in the inner cities.
Very good point. He'd love to disarm the law-abiding and leave them as sitting ducks. It would aid redistribution.
Now that I think back, he did say something like "most of the crimes are done with handguns," but didn't take it any further. I didn't fill in the blank as to where he wanted to go.
A logical assumption, give the obvious contempt this administration has for "stand your ground" laws - which are intertwined with concealed-carry laws and handguns.
