At the risk of being called a troll, I came away a bit skeptical of the Luntz focus group.
I thought Romney had a decent debate. He made some great points, but he also missed on some opportunities.
The focus group acting like it was the most brilliant performance they had ever seen in their life and that Romney locked up the Presidency last night seemed pretty over the top to me.
I hope it really is true, and I do think that on the whole Romney helped himself, but I also think Luntz might have gotten a biased group this time.

No suit needed. Everyone gets to have their opinion. BTW CNN’s group was very similar to Luntz’ group. CNN is having a hard time with it.
The good thing is that Libya is now going to be news the MSM can no longer ignore....and the foreign policy debate is still to come.
It may prove to be Obama's "smoking helicopters in the desert" moment.
He did miss some opportunities. But consider the term “undecided Obama voter” and ask yourself if these people would notice what Romney should have said. :)
I can see why you would think that...like most here you follow politics on a daily basis.
Can you imagine, if you only REALLY paid attention every four years...after this disaster of an economy and all of the other recent news events...you turn on the TV to hear the same lines as four years ago...as though the last four years hadn’t even happened? Including a question about George W. Bush??? It must seem surreal...LOL!
This time, voters have an acceptable alternative who seems competent and has a history of success...so of course they will flock to him.
This group was largely Obama voters who thought of themselves as undecided.
What does that tell you?
If you already voted for somebody, but the next time around you consider yourself undecided, that shows that The One you voted for has let you down. You can't bear the thought that your prior vote was wrong. You WANT to believe in your man, but your brain says no. So you become "undecided" to see what the other guy has.
This debate confirmed everything for these people that they already knew.
The debate didn't show them anything major. There was no gotcha thing that Romney came up with.
These people saw things in Zero that they already knew.
I think 2 things happened. Romney eased these peoples fear and hesitation of him. And Obama confirmed in them their mistrust of him.
These people were already on the fence. Romney just held out a hand to help them step down. And Obama just gave them the slightest push to move them.
You missed the fact of where these people were located: Las Vegas, NV.
Obama has repeatedly trash-talked Las Vegas during his presidency - to the point where the very Democratic mayor, Oscar Goodman, mob lawyer, launched a really nasty comeback to Obama about these slights of Las Vegas.
Las Vegas has one of the worst local economies in the country, their housing market has been in the crapper for four years, the declines in real estate valuation are perhaps worse in Las Vegas than most anywhere else in the US, etc.
So for these people, yes, Obama did poorly. Obama still isn’t talking about jobs and economic growth.
I didn’t see the group but I suspect you are right, because I NEVER trust these focus groups, even when I agree with them. Too easy to get grandstand ears who see their 15 seconds of fame.
The only reason this year is a stunner and somewhat interesting, is that the group as a whole is not falling hook line and sinker for the dem with one or 2 hold outs. This is a reversal of what has taken place year after year of his stupid undecided focus groups and gives one a reason for a second look because despite the polls something major is happening.
I have said from the beginning that this election is going to look more like Carter/Reagan not some neck and neck race.

I like the focus groups. They may be in it for their 15 minutes, but they seem sincere enough for the most part.
The thing is, the average person is not looking at debate points scored. It doesn’t even cross their minds - and frankly, they’re puzzled by the pundits who insist on doing so.
No, they’re looking at the overall picture. And what they came away with is that Romney knew what he was talking about while obama tried to BS his way through with the help of his friend. They’ve had it with him.
