I was born and raised in East Liberty. It was a great place to grow up many years ago. Sad what it has become.

Largely done in by the whims of utopian government planners.

When they closed off all the main streets of the business district to create a "Pedestrian Mall" in the early 70's it was the kiss of death. Vehicle traffic has since been restored, but the damage was done.

Homewood, Wilkensburg, Homestead...all pi**holes now. Used to be nice, ethinic communites back in the day. Urban black culture is a pox. What we need is to cut off all social welfare to these communites, set up military barraks where they aid in local policing, and have a three stikes law where if the third strike is a violent crime with a firearm you get the death penalty with one appeal. Give that 20 years and watch these places turnaround and crime plummet nationwide. We all know the stats , some states like Illlinois, some tof the jails are over 50% African Americans..and what they are 14% of the national population. Not racist if its true.
