I just got home from a very fun, but short, shoot recon trip, where I met up with BuckeyeTexan and NYTexan.

After we checked out the Town Square (which has a lot of really cute shops), we headed over to the cottages. We all liked what we saw! What they don’t tell you on their website is the cottages are on both sides of the street. Cottages 1 – 8 are on the wooded side; cottages 9 – 12 are on the creek side. The three of us decided that cottages 9 & 10 will be the “porch monkey chin wag action” area, due to those having bigger kitchens, decks and a great view of the river. There is a common area with a full kitchen & tables and chairs, but they charge $150 (or was it $100?) for the night ~ I will call them to see what kind of deal we can work out since FReepers will be renting most of their cottages. I’ll keep you guys posted.

Speaking of FReepers renting the cottages, there are only four left to rent ~ #’s 2, 3, 5 and 12. You will have to call to rent a cottage because the owner put a hold on them for us, until the end of April. A few reminders – mention TexasCowboy and you will receive a 10% discount AND you have to pay for the cottage when you make the reservation.

Our next stop was to Lone Star Range. After looking around we concluded that the place is not contusive to our needs, so . . . we are going with our original plan of going to Dietz Gun Range in New Braunfels. (Yes Mrs. Dietz was rude, and ticked me off, but I agreed to put on my big girl britches for the sake of the group). For those not joining us for breakfast

On my way home today I stopped at Granny D’s restaurant in Canyon Lake to check out the place and the food, to see if this would be a good place for us to meet for breakfast. It’s kind of small, but they have a room in the back where we will be seated. They have a breakfast buffet on the weekend and the prices on the breakfast menu are decent. I made a reservation for 8:00 a.m. for the 8th.

Granny D’s is 30 minutes from the cottages and 20 minutes to the range. On a plus side, the scenery along the way is amazing!

BuckeyeTexan and NYTexan – please fill in any blanks I left out.
