The mother works the night shift. She watched Jessica walk the first of three blocks where she meets her friends. The school called to say she was not there, but the mother was asleep by then.

This is horrible. My two grandchildren live not far away in Boulder.

My guess the body was mutilated by wild animals, as it lay in an open space area for several days.
