Lance Armstrong stands unmasked as the worst kind of cheat and liar

So says the United States Anti-Doping Agency in a remarkably exhaustive report of its investigation into charges that Armstrong climbed to unprecedented stardom atop a bicycle with the aid of banned substances.

The document conclusively nails Armstrong with overwhelming sworn testimony, email correspondence, bank records and analyses of his blood samples.

It all but begs federal law enforcement authorities to refocus their attention on Armstrong after unexplainedly closing a probe — if only to consider indicting him for perjury.

Armstrong’s doping was no hit-and-miss proposition. It started in 1999 and went on for a decade. Under his command, it was highly organized and entailed surreptitious deliveries of prohibited substances, elaborate ruses to avoid blood tests and insistence that teammates participate.

He passed every drug test they gave him.

Did you both even read the article?? He was cheating in a way that current test at the time could not detect..he was one step ahead of the testers at all times..state of the art cheating.

As usual, the NY Daily News is way off. The worst kind of liar and cheat is a White House that circumvents the Constitution, violates the laws of the land, commits treason, lies about the murders of innocent people, and goes to great lengths to cover up their illegal activities and scandals.

Much as DNA testing has improved over the years and thus helps solve crimes from the past so can be said of drug testing. That said Armstrong was one of the best physical specimens during his time at the top. Even if all were doping he still was the winner amongst the users and wannabees. Apparently his lung and heart capacity was much superior to his competitiors.

Hey, here’s a novel idea. Maybe the older athletes don’t need to stay competitive forever. Maybe they could retire gracefully and pass the torch to the younger guys, so those guys would have the same opportunity to succeed and make a name for themselves that the old guys did.

Or they could just keep cheating, and you could have fun rooting for your favorite geriatric athletes.

anyone actually read or heard Armstrong say "I didn't do drugs" ???? ....I recall all he does is say he never failed a test....not the same...

Armstrong was just trying to win, just like the coach in Norleans who wanted to "take out" other football players and offered bounties, and just like that NE coach who had illegal video of other teams and was supposedly picking up their signals....

I agree 100% they tested his lung capacity on a Discovery Channel show and it was off the charts..he is w/o a doubt the best cyclist in our lifetimes and maybe never be beat.

One way to look at it is that he showed the greatest response to EPO -- the highest sensitivity. This is different from having the greatest natural ability. But, yes, his heart is unusually large.

So give him a trophy for “World’s Greatest Cheater” and take away his athletic trophies.

If it’s really true that they all do it and nobody cares, then they should just start their own leagues where they can dope to their hearts’ content and see how many fans show up to watch that.

Doesn’t sound like they’ve ever had anything resembling hard evidence.

That is hilarious. Sorry, they have an amazing amount of evidence.

Doping is illegal in most countries regardless of the sporting body’s rules.

So...Is the only evidence anecdotal and hearsay?

Nope, it's as massive and solid as it gets.

I hate that everyone-does-it excuse and also the “logic” of let them do it who cares?

What about the honest athlete who also doesn’t want to ravage his body with drugs - even if there is only one out there? He/she should be forced to compete and lose for doing the right thing because “everyone does it”?

Everyone doesn’t do it, it’s just you hear of most of the top cyclists doing it because that’s why they are the top cyclists. The honest ones who play by the rules don’t have a chance. Unless they decide to throw away their ethics and their long term health and join the cheaters.

Competitive sports deserve an equal playing field - so either you enforce doping rules and no one does it or you tell everyone go ahead drug yourself it’s ok, and if you don’t want to, get out of the sport as you have no chance against those who do.
