If voters are right, Paul Ryan will easily out-debate Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. on Thursday.
The latest The Washington Times/Zogby Poll, released Monday, found 46 percent of voters think Mr. Ryan, Wisconsin Republican and a master of budget details, will overwhelm Mr. Biden. Only 30 percent thought "Sheriff Joe" would triumph.

True. And the media won't fact-check him. He used this technique effectively against Sarah.
But Ryan will refute every lie. And who will people believe this time?
The bar is being set as low as possible for Biden. Anything short of tripping and smacking his head on the podium will be considered a wild success. (Is it mean to say I LOVE that mental image??)

Well, if 40 years in Washington made Biden any smarter, he would have been the Democratic nominee in 2008, wouldn't he? And Obama his veep? But Paslin wasted him in their debate, didn't she?
Trouble is, Biden was not in Washington on the basis of his mental abilities, he was there at the pleasure of the people of Delaware. Doesn't that tell you something about the intelligence of the people of Delaware?
One minor correction--it's not "the people of Delaware", it's the "people of NORTHERN Delaware".
We in southern Delaware cannot stand the man. The northern half of the state is blue, the bottom is red. Unfortunately, they outnumber us up north.
This "debate" will be the Martha and Joe Show versus Paul Ryan.
"Sheriff Joe"? They've GOT to be kidding!!
This not good news, but i am still optimistic. It will come down to how well Ryan can negate Biden’s smoothly and confidently delivered lies. He must do so agressively.
I don’t think I’ll watch but I look forward to the commentary. I simply cannot stand to listen to Blowhard Joe when he gets rolling with that lying, arrogant condescension he’s so good at, and I know he’s going to unload a truckful of it onto Ryan tomorrow.
Seems to me Biden has two options.
Either, get angry and lie a lot. The media reports he is passionate and cares about the “middle class”.
Or, act extremely magnanimous and lie a lot. Then media can say what a good guy ol’ Joe is.
However, regardless of what happens, the fact of the matter is the VP debates have virtually no impact on the race...(Lloyd Benson destroyed Dan Quayle in the 1988 debate in a drubbing that might have been worse than Romney/Obama and Bush still went on to win in a landslide)
“Dont underestimate Biden as a debater. He is a slippery character who can tell bald faced lies with passion and conviction.”
I agree. Ever since his debate 4 years ago, I have said that ‘he lies with such conviction’. And I mean he can fabricate a story out of thin air, and passionatley talk about it, with confidence. He will not stutter and stammer like Obama...he knows there is very little penalty for saying something false or incorrect, only a penalty for not looking sure of himself. If you think about it, he has to lie to himself every day, when he looks in the morror...and tell himself he’s not a punchline in a bad joke.
He’s good at it. But I am very impressed with Ryan. He should be well prepared. And, frankly, the ‘optics’ of Joe Biden aren’t that good these days. After 90 minutes, his makeup is going to make him look like a cadaver...and he’s got the ‘crazy eyes’.
You may have something there -- Joe could get home for supper on the commuter train -- it's only 100 miles to Wilmington.
But in Southern Delaware he could have gotten there sooner, and have fried chicken and oysters with baked pineapple dessert. (I got the baked pineapple recipe from a lady in Felton, and won the "Teddy Crocker" men's dessert cookery competition at church with it. Yum.)
Now, that would have been smarter.
Anyone get to the bottom of Joe’s college football career?
He said he played college ball but it was flag football. Didn’t he say he played against Ohio State??
LLS
"Sheriff Joe"? They've GOT to be kidding!!
I've been calling him "Clueless Joe." ("Say it ain't so, Joe!")
Biden may surprise; he might already know the questions whereas Ryan will have to come up with answers. I am still confident in Ryan, but don’t underestimate the opponent. Plugs can be slick. Just look at how long he’s been a politician.
See, you know southern Delaware!
It’s the most northern part of the South, bounded on two sides by the Mason-Dixon line.
