In the end, Carter lost to Reagan because he dithered too much, because he was just too feckless, because our enemies were running amok, and Carter was trying to make a deal with them instead of acting the way most of us thought a real American leader should act. Then, as now, the media were overwhelmingly behind the Democratic incumbent, but the real world overwhelmed them. Then, it was American hostages in Iran. Now, it is American dead in Libya. Then, it was a mob of Iranian students shrieking death to America in Tehran and taking over the American embassy . Now, it is jihadi killers in Benghazi gunning down our ambassador and three soldiers, and burning the consulate.
Back then, the symbol of a failed president was a big rabbit. Now, its a big bird.... READ MORE: http://pjmedia.com/michaelledeen/2012/10/09/it-looks-like-carter-all-over-again/
"Machiavelli says that once a leader becomes an object of contempt, hes doomed. Which is Obamas current condition. Once you become the butt of jokes the aura of leadership is gone forever."
The obamov followers running around in idiotic chicken outfits, certainly doesn't help salvage any dignity, however much is left. A terrific analogy by Michael Ledeen.
Obama is Carter 1980. Romney is Carter in 1976.

A huge difference in 1980 was that the famously conservative leader Ronald Reagan, had to convince the American people that he was not too far right for American politics, that he wouldn’t get us killed with his strong, bold, even radically conservative views.
Reagan had significant;y different policies than Carter. Romney supported the rebels in Libya and now in Syria. Liberal fail.
Actually, I think it's the Big Bow.
Of course, you are right. Carter ran as a conservative in 1976.
Electorally it IS a lot like Carter. However, don’t dismiss the advantage the left has enjoyed between then and now. When good and evil compromise, evil wins.
Well, we have two choices this year, so pick wisely.
1. high gas prices
2. high unemployment
3. widely hated USA in the middle-east
Yup..! What is old is new again..!
Hey why isn’t the media noisy about it? Cuz we don’t have a WHITE guy from Georgia as Prez, that’s why.
Cuz East coast intellectual elites DO prefer professional death to criticizing a black bisexual Muslim.
Don’t forget Carter’s policies were so devastating to the country that the British thought he was a Russian mole.
444 days...
and his plan to wear a sweater if oil prices got too high...
Seems as if the presidential race this year is going similarly to the one in 1980 so far, and hopefully it will continue that way through Election Day.
Jack Welch shows how Obama cheated on jobs report.
I see Carter, but where’s Reagan?
