"Alabama is a state located in the southeastern region of the United States. It is bordered by Tennessee to the north, Georgia to the east, Florida and the Gulf of Mexico to the south, and Mississippi to the west. Alabama is the 30th-most extensive and the 23rd-most populous of the 50 United States. Alabama ranks second in the area of its inland waterways...

Following World War II, Alabama experienced growth as the economy of the state transitioned from agriculture to diversified interests in heavy manufacturing, mineral extraction, education, and technology. In addition, the establishment or expansion of multiple military installations, primarily those of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, added to state jobs."

"Alaska is the largest state in the United States by area. It is situated in the northwest extremity of the North American continent, with Canada to the east, the Arctic Ocean to the north, and the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, with Russia further west across the Bering Strait. Alaska is the 4th least populous and the least densely populated of the 50 United States. Approximately half of Alaska's 722,718 residents live within the Anchorage metropolitan area.
Alaska was purchased from Russia on March 30, 1867, for $7.2 million at approximately two cents per acre ($4.74/km²). The land went through several administrative changes before becoming an organized (or incorporated) territory on May 11, 1912, and the 49th state of the U.S. on January 3, 1959.
The name "Alaska" (Аляска) was already introduced in the Russian colonial period, when it was used only for the peninsula and is derived from the Aleut alaxsxaq, meaning "the mainland" or, more literally, "the object towards which the action of the sea is directed". It is also known as Alyeska, the "great land", an Aleut word derived from the same root. "

Well, I just love Texas. My father was a born and bred native Texan all his long life. One of the FReepers located his grave site in Elgin, Texas.

Those little cottages were wonderful. Situated close together with front porches and rocking chairs. We’d gather in front of one in the evening to talk and tell stories. Perfect weather. Whenever a car would drive through, Jim would tell them to get off our front porch. LOL.

One evening when a rather serious, prune-faced lady was driving through, I forgot to pick up my ice water in a plastic cup. The lady drove over it and cracked it. LOUD sound. She freaked out. Karma.

I forced Mr. T to come over to the computer to see the photos of the little cottages. We both loved them. :)
