Democratic President Barack Obamas lead over Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is growing in Massachusetts, and is now up to 30 points, according to a new poll conducted by the Western New England University Polling Institute for The Republican and MassLive.com.
The poll, conducted Sept. 28 - Oct. 4, finds Obama getting support from 63 percent of likely Massachusetts voters compared to 33 percent for Romney, with 3 percent undecided. The poll does not take into account the impact of the first presidential debate - in which Romney was widely viewed as the winner - since only one night of polling was done after that.
The results are not surprising. Though Romney is the former Massachusetts governor, he has consistently trailed Obama by double digits in his liberal-leaning home state. The bigger question is how the presidential race will affect the tight U.S. Senate race between Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown and Democratic Harvard Law School professor Elizabeth Warren. The poll suggests that Obamas growing lead does not necessarily give Warren an advantage. Since the last poll conducted for The Republican and MassLive.com on Sept. 6-13, Brown has actually picked up more Obama supporters than Warren has.
Warren is now getting support from 76 percent of likely voters who lean toward Obama, compared to 77 percent in September. Brown is getting support from 18 percent of Obama supporters, compared to 14 percent in September. (In both polls, Brown has gotten support from more than 90 percent of Romney supporters.)

And I thought Minnesota was bad...
Same in the parts of MA I travel in. Most Warren sigs are without matching Obama signs. The one exception I found was a area with a descent Jewish population.
Agreed. Even CT will be closer then they are letting on.
Honest to God, except for my Harvard educated daughter in law, everyone I talk to despises O. Don’t get me wrong O has massive support from lots of areas and I could probably name each one of them.
I’m not a big Brown fan but to vote for Warren is unthinkable. I think that contest is going to be a squeaker.
I predicted if Glove keeps it within 15%, look for a national blowout.
Also, I was up in the North Shore today and the Tisei signs conservatively outnumbered the Tierney signs by a 5:1 margin. The Brown signs outnumbered the Warren signs by a 3:1 margin and the Romney signs outnumbered the Obama signs 2/3:1. Forgetting the “dude loves dong” angle and I think Tisei is going to win the seat (no pun intended). My relatives in the district are voting for her; the gambling/unreported cash allegations against Tierney, especially in this economy, are going to finish him off.
So Romney actually trailing the McCain margin in this state!
Ya think? Sure says a whole lot about the State of Massachusetts (poor lost bubble-wrapped souls).
Really???? If this is true, why is Zero inundating the Boston TV market with ads on every channel from 5AM until Midnight? He slams every newscast with multiple ads. He has been on nonstop for 2 months now. If this story was true, he wouldn’t have to spend a dime here. I think they are scared they may loose here. If he looses Massachusetts, it will be a early night and Zero better call the movers.
BS. I live in Moonbatchusetts.
In 2008, Zero signs and stickers were everywhere. Now, they’re non-existant, except in five of the Moonbattiest towns. Until the debate, Romney signs were equally rare.
But this weekend, the Romney signs and stickers started coming out.
I give Zero a five point victory. Max.
The way this was reported was that “Obama increases lead in MA” in my local Springfield paper. of course this makes no sense as their man was just obliterated in the debate. I think the poll was done at WNEC (local college) and the data is probably old and irrelevant.
Those ads are for New Hampshire.
I am a realist, I worry too and will continue to worry until this nightmare over, but I do believe Romney is going to win.
Romney is going to win....
Which are your top 5 Moonbattiest towns in MA?
NO MASS, NO MASS. ROMNEY WINS BY A TKO.
This is pre-debate. I know Massachusetts in the capital of moonbattery, but Obama will not win by 30 on November 6. Probably more like half that. election.
IIRC, MA was the only state won by George McGovern.
Then why are there WAY less ads on WMUR,WPXG and WBIN? And NO ads during the NH Newscasts?
I don’t believe it. I spend considerable time in both SE Mass and the Berkshires, I see very few Zero signs. In fact I see very few yard signs at all. Though I don’t doubt Zero will win, the number cited for those supporting Lieawatha really show me how bogus the numbers are. I think Scott Brown will win. The Senate race and the chance to vote against Kennedy spawn are the real reason to go to the poll, for me.
My top 5 moonbat towns: North Hampton, Provincetown, Cambridge, Newton and Somerville... the real people live in towns like Dracut, Leominster, Hopkington will vote for Mitt and Scott ... there are more towns that will come in for the Republicans, but the Liberal towns are overwhelmingly so.
