One of the reasons why liberals were so shocked by President Obama's disastrous performance in last Wednesday's presidential debate is that it ran completely counter to what they expected based on one of their most important fictional experiences. And that fictional experience was when "President" Jed Bartlet wiped the floor of his Republican challenger Ritchie ("richie" get it?) during a "West Wing" debate episode. You can see Bartlet destroying Ritchie as completely scripted by Aaron Sorkin in his liberal fantasy below the fold.
Since that fictitious debate has served as a liberal reference point as to how debates between a Democrat and Republican contenders for the presidency are supposed to turn out in real life, Maureen Dowd of the New York Times has invoked the spirit of Jed Bartlet to advise Obama in preparation for the next debate. One can only conclude that Dowd must have accidentally ingested some magic mushrooms because her fantasy Jed Bartlet advises Obama to prepare for the next debate by resuming smoking, appear condescending, and calling Mitt Romney a liar.

hahhahaha..how is the worlds biggest liar going to pull that off???
That looks like Catherine zeta Jones.
Hope Obama does light up during the debate. That’d be amusing and cost him a ton of votes.
“Liar” is too extreme and desperate. This is why Scott Brown needs to give the fake Indian thing a rest. Let the surrogate and friendly press get in the mud. Appear above it all and focus on jobs and national debt. Brown’s a potential President if he can pull off another win. Conservatives won’t be happy with him in the primaries but he certainly looks like Mitt the 2nd.
Oh PLEASE do it 0. The one thing all the Independent voters hate is “nasty” campaigning”. If he does this and Romney responses with a smile and a quip, the election is over.
Not surprising. All the liberals I know live in a fantasy land, not unlike how kings and queens lived in the Middle Ages compared to the serfs (you can guess who the libs think of themselves as).
If that were happen, he should reply “Speaking of lies, what about your birth certificate...”.
"Set up another round, Joe, I need it..."
I believe there is a rule on FR to post CZJ pics whenever Maureen Dowd is mentioned or writes an article. Childish...maybe, fun...yes.
I tend to agree with your analysis.
Go ahead.
Me, I’m holding out for a President Jed Clampett instead.
Barring some major event, the election IS over. The change in the polling was not a post-debate "bump" The debate was a tipping point. There was a well spring of disappointment with Obama built up among voters who were just waiting for a plausible alternative. Not only did Mittens provide one but at the same time Obama damaged his own brand beyond repair. The floodgates have opened up and Obama may never regain the lead.
Can Obama recover from the first debate?
.
He wouldn’t dare! He knows he would get smashed over the head with the facts immediately after doing so. It’s much easier to have your press minions claim your opponent was lying the next day when he can’t defend himself.
As I recall, that West Wing president was hallucinating from pain killers, wasn’t he?
You know, he had a bad back, just like Jack Kennedy.
Whatever you think of Romney's politics, his personal life has been one of real substance. Business, family...he has been deeply engaged and successful. He carries that confidence with him everywhere he goes. Obama has the over inflated confidence of an affirmative action hero. Putting the two side-by-side, you can't hide the obvious.
Really? With what record?
I don't like Mitt, but to call Brown 'Mitt the 2nd' stretches credulity a bit too far. /,p> Mitt has had some successes and has a record. Scott Brown appeared in Playgirl. Whoop de frickin' DOO!
o, but simple error. The caption on that pic probably said “Maureen is well endowed”
It’s Catherine Zeta Jones. FR rule is to post her pics whenever Maureen Dowd is mentioned or writes an article.
