They use anything and everything- part time, temp jobs...like using temporary seasonal help as new hires. it’s just so much BS.
Interestingly I talked to a black guy at the Goodyear this morning while getting the oil changed. I didn’t gather he was any fan of Romney, but after the news showed a clip of Romney refuting the jobs number and saying it was really 11%, his response was what you would expect of a fairly normal rational person- they have 2 eyes and friends and family, and they know the situation is bad, and the numbers are not an encouragement. He simply felt things were not going to get better no matter who was president. Which I found interesting because it showed someone like that has no idea what drives the economy or how jobs are created. I tried to get in some points on big companies in a holding pattern over doubts of the future, and the difficulty of running a business with oppressive regulations. Conversation then turned to housing and it seemed we have both benefited from the slump and being able to afford a house we otherwise couldn’t (in my case being able to buy at all).
It was both encouraging that some are not be fooled by the fake numbers, but also discouraging that they either aren’t listening or don’t understand Republican/conservative economic proposals.
I don’t know if I was able to get him to think outside his bubble. If not- my guess is he won’t be voting if he thinks it doesn’t matter. Just a WAG of course.
