If you’re an atheist, why not just omit to state the words “under God”? Surely one could subscribe to the rest of the pledge, right? I wouldn’t have a problem if atheists, including atheist students decide not to recite the words “under God”. I do object if they say that the rest of us cannot recite the pledge because of their beliefs.
