Hiya
Tried to comment on the dabate thread OR send FReepmail last night to you and a couple others...to no avail..I guess the past 2 begathons asking for $$ to upgrade the servers, was just a joke, huh? (Im not laughing!!) Oh well.....seems to happen often enough to have become a typical ploy round these parts....make the system go slow or dead stop during important times, to justify asking for more $$........if this gig doesnt work out, I see a future as a televangelist for someone!/snark off
I aa pi$$ed last night too. There was no way you could get on this site....again..during a most important day of the last 4 years. What a joke.
I blame the servers too but only because they still can’t defend off a DOS attack.
I gave up trying to post last night.
not to worry...Big Jim Thompson is ridin in a bus
Sorry I could not reply to your comment last night. I finally wound up over on hot air until this morning. They had near 5,000 posts.
Also, posting cute gifs and screen captures really slow things down and increase the workload. Be considerate on live threads and forget the graphics unless they have significant and compelling value.
Finally, whenever you post a comment, there is a two step process behind the scenes. First the comment is posted in the database and only then does the software go back to the thread and retrieve the messages to present to you. Chances are when you get a time-out message, your post has actually made it and the process hung up in the retrieval part. If you refresh and get the message about the transaction containing "post data, do you want to proceed?" Be like Nancy and Just Say No. If you say yes, that is how you get two or three or four consecutive posts. Instead, open a new tab and retrieve the thread to see if your post made it. Then and only then should you say "yes" to the "post data" challenge back in the other tab.
These methods will make your live thread experience more enjoyable and not overtax the squirrels.
Did I get the right, John?
