Blame Bush. It works, it obfuscates polls show people believe it.
How does Romney fight it and make it HUGH and memorable?
Use the Reagan line "There you go again".
If he does this early in the debate he will neuter Obama's blame gme for the whole night and really throw him off. When Obama returns to blame, ROmney uses there you go again and hits a grand slam.
Everything is in rubble and collapsing down around him but he doesn't see it.
Then run off a list of Obama's lies.
The private sector is in doing fine.
The terrorist attack was because of a video.
A tax increase on the rich will solve all economic problems.
Present it as if Obama believes his lies are true and he's written off as a nut.
As another poster mentioned on another thread of this theme, it would be unwise for Romney to channel Reagan's witty quip. I can just see Obama's response:
"See? There the REPUBLICANS go again! Regurgitating the ideas of prior Republicans because they have no new ideas, just criticisms. Do we REALLY want to entrust our nation's future to politicians who cannot even come up with their OWN ideas?"
Sadly enough, the parasitic class would eat that response up, and it would give Zer0 IMMENSE leverage with the lapdog media replaying the sound bite over and over, ad infinitum, for all the world to behold.
I think Romney needs an original line ... the ‘there you go again’ worked for Reagan who was older and got the delivery ‘just right’
I think Romney should be saying repeatedly (and he will have a chance every time Obama opens his mouth): “Mr. President, thanks for sharing that story, but let’s get back to your REAL record” .... I’d actually like to see him say: “Mr. President, thanks for sharing that story, but let’s get back to your nonfictional record” .....but that would probably be perceived as too ‘snarky’.
Obummer is known for very long responses and for going far afield. This clearly says Obummer is not telling the truth, making up stories, obfuscating .... etc., etc. It’s polite ... but it’s the iron fist in the velvet glove approach.
He **MUST** address the issue of being a “rich out of touch guy who only wants to enrich those like him at the expense of the poor and the middle class”. That it’s false is not the question, but it has stuck among a segment of the Obama disenchanteds and it’s costing him in OH.
This is what I would hope he would say:
‘You weren’t elected for a warm up term, you were elected to solve things. You blamed our economy, our wars and our standing in the world on your predecessor. But in your single term our economy, the state of the world, and our standing in the eyes of our allies and enemies has become much worse than the mess you inherited. I can fix things, I can get things done. I have a record of competence and success in the private sector and in the public sector. You offer excuses for why you can’t get things done, I offer solutions to pull us out of this period of national malaise.”
Nobody has ever confronted Obama with his own words about raising the debt ceiling, and calling increasing the deficit irresponsible and unpatriotic. Romney needs to jam some of Obama’s own words back down his throat.
If Obama asks why not the last 10 years tax returns, answer that it’s specifically not required, and not a single penny of his income EVER was associated with tax payers money. Then I’d ask Obama, how much of his last 10 years income as shown on his returns was made through innovation and contributions to the economy AFTER eliminating ALL tax payer sourced funds.
100% Romney, probably <10% Obama. One’s a contributor to the health of the country, one’s a taker.
Romney: Before we begin this debate, I demand to have an update on the attack on our embassy and the savage murder of four of our countrymen in Libya. What happened? What were we doing there? Why was there no security? Why did it happen? What are we doing about it? Mr. President,, what are you going to do about it?
“It is widely reported that you have over a billion dollars, tax free, in your OFA (pronouonced “OFAY”) fund.
Explain to America why you think you shouldn’t pay taxes on this wealth, and also why you should get a pass for using a vile racial slur for this fund.”
He said: They HATE us and so they can "HATE US FOR FREE". Romney should say that he is opposed to sending our enemy aid, THEY CAN HATE US FOR FREE. We will help AMERICANS first.
That line is quick, to the point and it will be remembered. It could be his Reagan moment.
Then add, he will bring ALL our MILITARY home, ASAP. We are not in the training business any longer. American trains their militaty in boot camps in about 90 days, and those Iraqi's etc., can't be trained in 4/5/6/7/8 years?
(Oh, they are being trained alright, being trained how we do things and then they kill our troops behind their backs, FRIENDLY FIRE????) Thank you Congressman Gowdy.
” Tonight after long and serious thought and observing all the data put forth by the popular news services saying I had no chance to win against President Obama, I was considering conceding tonight!
I will not!
What I will do is stay the course and prove to the world I am the better choice.
I will also prove that the media are wrong now as they were in 2008. Tonight they will lose the “tingles” up their collective legs”
When the abortion issue comes up, ask shouldn’t humans be elevated to at least the status of sea turtles where there are massive fines and possibly jail times for destroying sea turtle eggs.
Also when you flunk fourth grade, should you blame your first grade teacher?
Here is mine, I want Romney to say: It shall be the policy of my administration not to reward bad behavior.
Just today your press secretary said that you believed the federal government’s response to the Katrina disaster was “color-blind.”
However, there is a videotape at the time of the disaster where you, then a senator, `mau-mau’ed’ this tragedy by telling a mostly black audience of ministers that the country’s leaders “don’t care about” New Orleans residents, suggesting the city was neglected in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina because of institutional racism.
So, what do you really believe, Mr. President? What you said then, or what you had your press secretary say today?
Here is mine, I want Romney to say: It shall be the policy of my administration not to reward bad behavior.
