How Carter Beat Reagan

Remember when Jimmy Carter beat Ronald Reagan in 1980? Washington Post admits polling was "in-kind contribution"; New York Times agenda polling. Dick Morris is right. Here's his column on "Why the Polls Understate the Romney Vote." Here's something Dick Morris doesn't mention. And he's charitable. Remember when Jimmy Carter beat Ronald Reagan in 1980? That's right. Jimmy Carter beat Ronald Reagan in 1980.

Take a few minutes to read this incredible look at the lies used by the left wing Mediots when Reagan ran against the traitor Carter.

We have a new phenomenon now in politics, agenda driven polls. And if it isn't new, it has certainly been raised to a new level.
Intentionally deceptive polls are now being used by the agenda driven media to influence an election. This would seem to me to be unethical, unprofessional and possibly even illegal.

Let’s get serious. Mexifornia is now officially issuing driver’s licenses to illegals. One possessing a driver’s license can vote.
Who gives a smelly Obama about the polls when the sleeze-O-crats are over halfway to their win?
Civil War II. The question is whether or not it will happen before or after the war with Islam.

Yes you are correct... deceptive polls have been used in the past, but we are now seeing their use “raised to a new level”. We are going to see the DemonRATs in the media sink to unheard of new Lows in the next few weeks.

I remember 1980, if anything it was as bad if not worse than it is today (although in those days before the 24 hour news cycle and Internet, you COULD escape it if you didn't read the morning newspaper or watch the evening news). Depending on what liberal rag you read Reagan was either a reckless warmonger who was going to start nuclear Armageddon on day one if elected or he was an “empty suit” actor who was out of touch and not very bright. Carter was portrayed as the wise, even tempered, thoughtful intellectual who through no fault of his own got saddled with a bad economy and problems in the middle east. Sound familiar...

Deceptive polls, however, the electorate is dependent on the government teet light never before. We need to win this election, improve the economy and quietly tighten the free benefits for the lazy and free loading moochers.

Loved, loved, LOVED this article! My gut feeling tells me this election, although not quite a blowout, will be similar to 1980. The media tried to do what they could for Carter, and they’re doing the same (and even more) for Obama.

This reminds me of the days before WWII when it was discussed that a good war strategy was to bomb the enemies cities to discourage them and cause them to sue for peace. But the effect was the opposite.
We’ll see how this one plays out. My take is that this will go one of two ways:
1. Obama goes down hard as the amateur he is.
2. He is the beast in Revelation and it will take God’s overt involvement to sort this out.
Both are good.

I remember 1980 also. Driving home from work on Friday I heard ABC News tell me breathlessly,"It's too close to call!" Anderson was supposed to be the spoiler, giving the election to Carter. We were warned that "It is going to be a long night before it is settled." IIRC the election was over by 8:30 Tuesday evening.
I never trusted the news media again...I still don't.

I know someone here (my town) who told me he thinks Obama is the Anti-Christ. seriously..
More important than any of that, which candidate is going to give me more 'free stuff'?

Agenda driven polls are at least 2+ decades old.

True. I wasn't aware they had ever been so blatant and so deceptive as they are now. That's why I said it had been raised to a new level.

Of all the major polls, Rasmussen seems to have the best overall numbers for Romney. If you use Rasmussen's
2012 Electoral College Scoreboard Romney has 167 "safe" electoral votes, and 29 likely/leaning. Obama has 203 "safe" electoral votes and 34 likely. That's 237 to 196. In the "critical tossup states" Ohio, Virginia, and Florida O has small leads.
From this, what would a non-partisan computer program or unbiased mathematician calculate the probability of a R victory to be? I would say the number would be low, but not zero.
Other factors might present themselves before the election (but if they are bad for O guess who won't show it). Weather on election day, debates + coordinated propaganda (I think Obama is going to mention R's 47% in the debates, while related ads run), possible new scandals.

From what I been hearing O has been working the critical states: VA, OH, FL, WI, PA...all I can remember, should be a bunch more

Not mentioned in your posted trip back through memory lane was the presence of a much more viable third party candidate in 1980, the RINO John Anderson (who ran with a 'Rat running mate). Not sure if Anderson siphoned away more votes from Reagan or from Carter, but he certainly was a factor in most states, getting into or close to double digit percentages in the popular vote. It seemed as if a good chunk of potential Anderson voters decided to go for Reagan in the final weeks of the campaign.
Clearly, there is no candidate comparable in strength to Anderson among this year's third party wannabes.
