Interesting that you should mention horses. I trained to be a farrier at a school in Memphis in 1977. I did it off and on as a primary (briefly) and secondary (mostly) job for the next 25 years, until I decided it was not what I wanted to do to my spine in retirement.
We learned to handle rodeo stock, etc. Came in handy over the years.
Got some scars (had a just-driven nail ripped up through my forearm) and some other highlights from working with that most noble of beasts...
Had some good times too.
