“classified computer systems were compromised in the past using several methods. They include the insertion of malicious code through a contaminated compact flash drive; a breach by a trusted insider, as in the case of the thousands of classified documents leaked to the anti-secrecy web site Wikileaks; and through compromised security encryption used for remote access to secured networks, as occurred with the recent compromise involving the security firm RSA and several major defense contractors.”

The govt doesn’t follow its own rules regarding computer security.
That is kinda my read on Gertz too. He has some excellent sources in the military and intelligence apparatus. I definately would trust him over anything that came out of this White House. They are demonstrable liars.
Ah yes the flash drive found in the Pentagon parking lot...
I remember that.
Then that little freak bradley manning who should have already faced a firing squad instead of getting his three hots and a cot.

When it comes to nukes, both the AF and Navy take the matters very seriously. And being that the breach happened in the White House, and with the current administration’s known hatred of the military and this country in general it would not surprise me one bit that someone from the administration could have done something to allow outside access.
As others have pointed out, the Chinese are constantly trying to attack our computers. There were two major attacks—in 2003 and in 2006. Titan Rain and Shady RAT, presumed to be initiated by China.
Saw the headline and thought Jay Carney had finally lost it.
