I agree that the emphasis should now be on locating the father of the baby, and nailing him to the side of a barn.
The state of Florida could also create a very interesting legal precedent by stating that, while the girl was competent before the crime, the crime itself has made her mentally incompetent, so that during her juvenile sentence she will receive psychiatric care.
This is so that, when she turns eighteen, it will be up to the psychiatrist to determine if she can be released, or if she must face further psychiatric confinement after being transferred to an adult psychiatric institution.
