A couple of weeks ago I stood in line at the supermarket. The two women in front of me used EBT cards to pay for enormous carts of food. The one right in front of me didn’t have enough money on the EBT card, so she put the rest of the bill on... wait for it... her American Express card (the green one). I was not happy to see that.
There will always be “poor” slackers who are parasites...no matter what “program” is invented to “help” them.
It seems the supply of stupid, liberal economics professors is endless. Yeah, just give poor people money. That’ll work great. (snicker)
Yeah, and like the cash would actually find it’s way to the people and not into the pockets of the dictators and the politicians...
There used to be a poster on threads like this that theorized if all monies were distributed equally today, in five years the wealthy would be wealthy again and the poor would be poor again. The more I observe people’s behaviors, the more I agree with this theory.
Giving a couple of hundred dollars to a Kalahari Bushman isn’t going to help them much (no 7-11 near by) but then those folks are not poor anyway.
If the rich gave all their money to the poor, the rich would have it all back by the end of the year.
That’s why the Communists simply decided to kill the rich, solved that problem.
What different about this from Milton Friedman’s “negative income tax”?
