The person being charged with the crime is her ex-boyfriend. The charge (not the murder) is the subject of the headline.

Guess it's all in how you choose to read it.

perhaps if we made divorce not so routine, parents would learn to life together, or perhaps if we once again put a bit of shame on someone for having a child out of wedlock, or perhaps if we forbade the custodial parent, if female, from having stud boyfriends stay in the same house, or if the custodial parent is male, not to have their trashy girlfriends stay in the same house..
