Ignoring The Hill, especially if the story is true, won’t change the fact that Romney is a liberal Republican who likes mandates and government revenue (taxes). Why is anyone surprised at this?

No one should be surprised. He is certainly a liberal, I don't think he has any voting history between his liberal policies and his "epiphany" to become a conservative. His efforts to pander to all is very poor.
As part of his so called 47%, I will not vote for Mitt. He does not want my vote and I do not want his liberalism. I want a conservative. It's not his turn, our offices are not handed down through royal lines.
Romney can stuff it.

(Romney is a cresent wrench when you need a hammer. Sure it might work, but do you want to chance it?)
