I have a feeling he had ill intent towards his aunt. And from there it gets really icky in a hurry.
Years ago in Arkansas a state trooper worked an accident in which two females died. The bodies were so badly mangled that the trooper did not recognize that one of the girls was his daughter. He found out after she was identified at the morgue.
Children have murdered parents and other close relatives for any number of stupid reasons or just outright evil .
I do think we have too many movies and books portraying depravity as acceptable,and impressionable people are swayed by such things.
...or the kid knew exactly what kind of loot he could get from his aunt’s house. What he didn’t plan on, was that she would call her brother [next door] for help. Kid had to know that father owned a pistol and recognized it was his father....and what his temperament might be. Maybe if you are a *drug crazed* kid you are not thinking clearly. Who knows?
