Churchill had it all exactly right, IMHO. He had early success, then a fall after the Gallipoli disaster. He was effectively in exile for much of the 1930's.

When the time came, the British people brought him back and laid their Fate in his hands, and in the Hands of our Lord Almighty. The portions of his speeches that I post are among the greatest expressions of the ethos, values and benefits of Western Civilization that have ever been uttered.

He was the genuine article. Would that we could have him now! His eloquence calls to mind that of another great orator - Patrick Henry. They articulated the basis of of our dearly held principles of individual freedom, personal responsibility, and reliance on Providence. They affirmed in grand style the aspirations of our civilization. They stated with clarity the dangers posed by our enemies.

Now we have "eye candy."
