Thing is Obama said he needs more time to implement his change. And even if you’re a died-in-the-wool commie supporter of his, that’s a true statement. If he can get control of the House and Senate again, or appoint more judges, he can implement a lot more communism.

Trouble is his argument is not only true for his ardent supporters, it is convincing to many general independent voters in its generic terms, even if they have no clue what it really means. The Romney campaign hasn’t come up with the right rhetoric to counter the successful arguments and convincing claims made at the DNC, as far as those ignorant “swing” voters are concerned. That’s why he’s running behind.

The poll is conducted under the joint direction of Anderson Robbins Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R). For the total sample, it has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points. The poll is weighted by age and race; it is not weighted by party identification. "Trust us! I don’t know about a Bradley effect but maybe the 1980 Reagan Democrat effect.

In a lot of places the Democrat Party is the local religion. You simply do NOT talk back to the Party. So in 1980 a whole lot of Democrats were out there carrying the party line about loving Carter then in the privacy of the voting booth pulled the lever for Reagan.

I wonder how many of those people who think that everyone should pay some income tax have a negative tax liability, but think that it’s just a refund that they deserve, without understanding what a negative tax liability is.

The poll says 73% want change, but Obama is ahead?

This poll refutes itself.

This poll seems reasonable to me.

Obama has taken the lead, but is still under 50% and has not yet closed the deal.

If ony Romney could break through and give people something to vote FOR and be excited about. He is trying, but he still hasn’t got there yet.

People, face it. We will have no polling information that is accurate between now and Nov 6th. The pollsters are all in for Obama and will not give legit numbers, so don’t expect it. Just go on your gut feelings. Is America in good shape? Do we have the leadership we need? Do you want America to succeed? If so, ignore the polls and vent your anger at the ballot box Nov 6. I plan to vote with extreme prejudice straight Republican/Conservative for the rest of my “natural born Patriot” life.

Makes perfect sense. They want change, they don’t want Romney. This is because, in their minds, Romney isn’t change.

The big problem is Romney is not being perceived as change, but rather as another machine politician. Even worse, he appears less likable personally than Obama, who is better at faking the everday guy persona, even as he is a hardcore Marxist. Especially with the media’s help.

Unless Romney makes it clear he represents something different, it is not impossible an ignorant, jaded populace will see him as just as much corrupted by big government, nanny state ideology as Obama, and vote for the guy who they think is more likable. “Hey I’m compassionate too!” and “Look, I passed a healthcare law too!” are not going to help. Thuis is the electorate who choose Obama over McCain.

This is the only electoral condition which could elect Romney, and Romney is just the go-along-to-get-along candidate who could just blow it by being nice to the Democrat.

You’d think he’d look at McCain and learn.

Absolutely - like saying a pair of shoes is killing your feet then buying 6 more pairs just like it. Can't believe people will keep voting for more pain and humiliation - but then again, there are a lot of loons among us.

It’s funny how that all works. By every objective metric, Obama is not doing a good job. When asked is he doing a good job on individual issues like the economy and foreign policy, a significant majority think he’s not. When asked if it’s time for a change, people overwhelming state “yes”.. but for some inexplicable reason, he’s leading in the generic presidential poll.
This is why I don’t trust the general presidential polls and why the campaigns are doing what they’re doing.
