I have been told (by those conducting interviews with captured enemy combatants) that when we ask them “What is coming next?” they sometimes refer to the “Perfect Day.” You cannot understand what they are talking about if you do not understand the historical reference.
The Sepoy Mutiny in India, in 1857, is an example of a Perfect Day. This was a spontaneous uprising by Muslims (and Hindus), with everyone giving the British their “best shot.” Nannies killed the kids, cooks poisoned the food, and shop owners murdered the British ladies as they came into the shop. And soldiers (sometimes complete units) killed their British officers and then used their weapons to attack the British.

I’ve read about this rebellion and how the British were sitting ducks ... trusted servants and the population, fellow solders, etc. turned on them, the massacre was brutal ... women, children, everyone. Horrific. Translating that to the USA ... not exactly the same, but if all the radical Muslims who have infiltrated neighborhoods, etc. did this .... if not a Perfect Day for them, it would be close to it. By the time Americans realized they needed to defend themselves with lethal force against neighbors, store workers, school workers, bus drivers, cab drivers, etc., the death toll would be something like we’ve not seen before except maybe back to one of the wars fought on our soil.
The worst example was when some 200+ wives and children of British garrison troops ( who were out pursuing the rebels) were herded into either a school or church, ( I forget which) and then HACKED to death.

In Victorian Britain women and children had achieved an elevated status and it was a widely held belief that they had a right to special protection. It was during the reign of Victoria that the idea of 'women and children first' in a shipwreck became the norm and parliamentary legislation had ensured that women and children were protected from the worst abuses of the factory system. The seeming treachery of Nana Sahib at the massacre ghat was nought when measured against the unspeakable atrocities of the Bibi-Ghar. Vengeance was required and even more stern-faced than the Old Testament judges of the Bible, the British wanted more than just an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. When the British later pushed up the valley of the Ganges and Cawnpore once more fell into their hands, they took their sepoy prisoners to the Bibi-Ghar and forced them to lick the blood-encrusted floors clean. Then they were taken out and hanged. Regiments newly arrived from Britain were routed through Cawnpore and shown round the site of the massacre. If it was intended to stiffen the troops resolve and harden their hearts against the mutineers it was probably unnecessary. Their hearts were hard enough already.

Being watchful for some ‘Grand Plan’ of the Islamist to render harm to American is a good idea... But I have to differ with you take of this potential threat... Conditions in America compared to Colonial India are 180 degree opposite. The British (both Military and Civilian) were a very small minority of people surrounded by a sea of Indians, the Civilian Colonialist were mostly unarmed. America on the other hand is a sea of American Citizens surrounding a comparative smattering of potential radical Islamic terrorists. Muslims in general in American are a tiny minority of the whole population. Add to this that we have large contingents City, County, State and Federal law enforcement agencies / personnel... Then we have the National Guard.. And this does not even take into account that the USA is the most heavily armed civilian population in the world. However, the Radical Islamist could inflict a Perfect Day (for them) if they could smuggle a Nuke into the U.S.
Overall, I agree with what you are saying .... and the perpetrators would quickly be taken out. However, if your neighbor came to the door, chances are you would not be thinking you needed to have gun in hand to defend yourself from that person. Same thing with a clerk at Wal-Mart or a school custodian, etc. Much local damage could be done before folks realized what was afoot .... by the time a quick response was mounted, many small local massacres could take place ... if you expand this to the country, the numbers would add up. Conditions are very different than colonial India ... however, the ‘surprise’ factor and trusted people doing the attacking ... I think there is potential there for the radicals and per the article, they are thinking about this. It would have to be coordinated and that level of coordination with more ‘ordinary’ people rather than a dedicated group like the 9/11 attackers would not be easy. Think back to 9/11 ... it took the 2nd plane before people REALLY got the message that it was a terror attack ... when stuff starts happening, putting the pieces together quickly isn’t as easy as it might seem and that delay is exploitable by terrorists.

Yes - problems - many could be caused ... but in the many states where Concealed Carry laws are in effect ... any public shooting, stabbing, bombing would draw a quick reaction those packing heat... We have Good Samaritan and self defense shootings quite often in Texas... I recall one incident in a Mall parking lot near Dallas back in the 1980’s. A man was dragging his girlfriend through the parking lot with a gun to her head ... there was much commotion. A bystander saw what was happening and within seconds returned to his car - opened the trunk - pulled out his .357 and shot the perp. dead.. The whole thing lasted a minute or two at most... He was not charged with a crime. This was way before Concealed Carry and we now have thousands of people who just have to reach in their pockets - not their car trunks... So I am optimistic of a quick put down.
