The greater fallout would be the same voters protesting with their vote against anyone helping him up and down ticket.
I think the much bigger backlash will come for people saying “we’re not going to let media tuttutters and professional leftists select our senate senator.” Enough is enough. He said it and he apologized. Time to look at the differences between the candidates on the issues.
I think you underestimate the resentment of people being told by media blatherers who they can vote for. I see a big FU factor coming on behalf of Aikin.
