I’m not so sure. Massachusetts and Rhode Island are numbers 2-1 in percentage Catholics and percentage Democrats. Most Massachusetts voters aren’t all that much different than Wisconsin Catholics. Most voters, outside the normal Democrat blocks (civil service, welfare, educrats, etc), are like anywhere else, only slightly more Catholic. The Endicott Peabodys and Cabot Lodges snubbed their Irish and Italian great-great grandparents 80 years ago, and they still haven’t forgiven the Republicans.
Excellent observations!!
Well said.
I'm not sure that that's entirely true.My Irish Catholic parents, both depression children from *very* humble beginnings, entered the 1960's as democrats but by the end of the decade were both Republicans. In my youth, for a short time,I was a Rat but soon came to my senses after having seen my tax bills...and lots of other things.
