The New York City Department of Education is making the morning-after-pill available to high school girls at 13 public schools.
The DOE says girls as young as 14 will be able to get the Plan B emergency contraception without parental consent.
Parents have been notified about the CATCH pilot program and how their daughters can opt out of it.
City Council Speaker Christine Quinn says she supports the program because high school students are sexually active and getting pregnant.
The city says about 7,000 girls get pregnant by the time they reach the age of 17. It says more than half choose to get an abortion.
NYC schools already distribute free condoms to students.
Only after several parents complained. THEN they made it public.
NYC schools already distribute free condoms to students.
So that makes it ok?
Schoolag Archipelago.
Certainly sounds as if the NYC schools are doing a lousy job of sex ed...along with every other kind of ed.
sex ed in NYC schools encourages them to have sex, it is mandated starting at 11 and lasts an entire Semester annually. One of the first things they have to do is print up a map with the route to the nearest abortion clinic to have in their folder, then they write reports on different types of condoms........
I understand the workbook is officially described as obscene material.
Must protect the teachers from their missteps and the City from lawsuits.
