I really think it’s important for us to abandon the “empty chair” metaphor.

If Obama were just a vacationing aristocrat, we would be ok. It’s when he works that things go wrong.

Thanks, Tamzee! There are a few parts of it I want to follow up on researching myself. I think it’s important to delve into how some of these individuals and events interesected with the Clintons as well as Obama.

I believe I have that article on McEntee in my own archives, too, I just forgot I had it until you reminded me! I am seeing online that Stanley Kurtz also talks about some of that angle in Radical-in-Chief. Good info on Sweeney and DC37 in your other post, I didn't know that. I had considered mentioning some of Sweeney's other activity at a few points in this piece; I omitted it to keep this from getting longer than it was, but he was another big part of the trends being described, and allied with McEntee's goals from an early stage.
